MTBZone.com - C.P.R. Downhill Series, Snoqualmie Pass, Washington 2002

--The C.P.R. Downhill Series is brand new to Snoqualmie Pass for 2002. It started as an alternative to other downhill events in the Pacific Northwest and with this year's races at Snoqualmie and maybe next year at Crystal Mountain...... They have strived to provide riders with a technical course with a downhill-only racing experience.

-- The turnout was very good with just over 100 racers showing up. Especially noteworthy was the 18 Pro and Semi-Pro riders that showed up. Many travelling long distances to race the CPR Downhill. Darrel Young and Shane Fogarty from Oregon, Greg Smith from Sandpoint, Idaho, and local speedsters training partners Bart McDaniel and Casey Northern meant some fast competition. Bart ended up with the win by almost 9 seconds over DY with Casey coming in 3rd.

--The crash of the day belonged to James Ivin. James was leading the Semi-Pro class after the first run by 6 seconds. He hit the last tabletop jump just before the finish going mach speed and landed flat-

bottom when his front wheel exploded. James got up off the ground and saluted the crowd....and then ran across the finish line. James missed the Semi-Pro win by only 2 seconds over 2 runs to Shane Fogarty from Oregon!
