Washington/Idaho/Montana Series

Beacon Bomber
April 22-21, 2002
Spokane, Washington

-This has to be one of the best little downhill courses around! It's not very long (2-3 minutes) but includes a combination of natural rock gardens & drop off, with flowing corners, especially with the new berms that have been built. It's very hard to hard to ride here and not have a fun time. And all within 10 minutes of downtown Spokane, Washington.

-Locals always post super-fast times, but this year bart McDaniel proved to be the fasted and most consistent. Running 2:00.2 for both runs in the two run format............Bart and Casey Northern perform private downhill clinics. They will teach you on your trails! Just call (360) 417-0968 or (253) 804-0781 for information.

-3 other riders that traveled a fair distance for the race posted the next fastest time for a single run at 2:03.4
Casey Northern (Port Angeles, Washington)
Jared Rinke (Lundbreck, Alberta)
Mike Albright (Seattle, Washington)

-A newly re-formed team based in Spokane, Northwest Downhillers took first place, and the lead, in the team competition. Look for those black jerseys to be on a lot of podiums in 2002.

- Much to the delight of all expert class riders in the Northwest, the Eakin brothers, Tige and Kim upgraded to Semi-Pro and proved they belong with a solid 3rd and 4th. The Eakin bros. ride for Old Town Bicycle.

--A big 'thank you' to promoters, Gino and Wendy for providing downhill shuttles for Saturday's practice. Send them an e-mail !
